HOUSING

ISEP Exchange students are placed in the International House, a special housing option on campus for international students. Students share a room with one other person.

There are cooking facilities in the International House. The International House has 11 residents, usually half international and half from the U.S. Incoming ISEP students should complete the housing form that will be sent to them via e-mail and return it, along with the required housing deposit, to Randolph-Macon College. The Office of International Education can help exchange students acquire bedding during orientation.

Students’ housing remains the same during vacation periods (except for Christmas break when remaining international students must move to the International House temporarily), but is NOT available during the summer vacation.

MEALS

ISEP students will receive "The Ultimate Plan" meal plan during their time at RMC. This includes 19 meals per week, $25 declining balance per semester, and 5 bonus meals per semester. The declining balance funds can be used to purchase retail items from campus dining locations or vending machines.

Meals are not provided during vacation periods (summer, Thanksgiving, winter, January term, and spring break). However, ISEP students who remain on campus during Thanksgiving break, J-Term break (only relevant for full-year exchange students), or spring break are provided with a meal stipend each day they are on campus. During those breaks, cooking facilities in the International House are made available and grocery stores are within walking distance from campus.

Course Description

All courses are taught in English and are at the Undergraduate level. Randolph-Macon has a strong portfolio of courses and fields of study that ISEP students are encouraged to take part in. This includes History, International/Global Studies, Social Sciences, and Visual & Performing Arts. Along side these recommended fields, students are welcome to partake in unique fields like cybersecurity, Japanese language and cultural studies, and astrophysics. If you have any questions regarding course availability, please contact your Student Services Officer.

Credits Earned

Students who complete the program in good standing can expect to earn 12-15 US credits. Students typically enroll in 4-5 courses per term. A term runs for about 14 weeks. To determine how these credits convert at your home institution, please contact your home university coordinator.

Randolph Macon's academic calendar includes an intensive four-week January term in which students focus on one or two courses, including many study/travel courses. International students at Randolph-Macon for a full year may participate in J-term, but students here for only one semester do not.
